Aug 2014 Storm/Flood Job in Huntington Woods, MI
Another home affected in the colossal flooding that hit Southern Michigan in 2014. This home had a lot of contents in their basement that was affected. Because this was sewage backup from all the drains in the home, most of the building materials that were affected by this sewage water had to be removed and disposed of. This home had over a 14 inches of standing water at one point, also water was absorbed up into the building materials, i.e. walls, carpet, doors, as well as all contents and furniture in the home. It took a lot of time to remove the furniture and contents from the affected area so we can remove and dispose of the sewage affected materials and set drying equipment. This homeowner along with tens of thousands of other Michiganders lost a lot in this disaster. The worst part of all is that most didn't have flood coverage on their homes and many lost everything. A flood disaster can happen to anyone at any time, no matter where you live. You should always carry flood coverage insurance on your home, this is a separate coverage from your homeowner's policy, but you never know when a flood is going to happen. Unfortunately, some learned this the hard way.
